The Board has a number of committees working on specific tasks, on which they report to the Board.
Committee memberships and functions are currently:
Registration, Assessment and Accreditation Committee
Louise Mainvil (Convenor), Laila Cooper, Paula Baker, Sandy Clemett (until May 2018)
The main purpose of the Registration, Assessment & Accreditation Committee is to establish policies and procedures for dietitians concerning registration, assessment and accreditation, acting in accordance within the governing legislation of the HPCA Act 2003.
Finance, Audit and Risk Committee
Paula Baker (Convenor), Laila Cooper, Jennifer Pelvin, Sandy Clemett (until May 2018)
The main purpose of the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee is to provide oversight on risk and internal controls and to ensure the integrity of the financial reporting, acting in accordance within the governing legislation of the HPCA Act 2003.
Competence and Fitness to Practice Committee
Stella Friedlander (Convenor), Hiki Pihema, Laila Cooper and Jennifer Pelvin
The main purpose of the Competence & Fitness to Practice Committee is to review the current protocol for the consideration and endorsement of Annual Practising Certificates (Recertification); determine standards of competence; oversee the continuing competency programme and decide what evidence must be provided by practitioners to meet continuing competence requirements, acting in accordance within the governing legislation of the HPCA Act 2003.
This Committee also establishes policies and procedures for prescribing dietitians.
In addition the Committee will determine the framework for matters related to a practitioner's competence issues and/or health concerns as and when these arise.
Complaints, notifications of competence and disciplinary matters needing investigation are, in the first instance, addressed by the Competence, Fitness to Practice Committee. The Board has statutory facility to establish a Professional Conduct Committee to deal with particular cases of complaints or disciplinary matters.
